Basin School District Profile
Basin School District and its feeder communities include residents from four uniquely different areas in East Boise County, encompassing 600 square miles. The Ponderosa Scenic Drive winds its way through the District to historic Idaho City, where the campus itself resides. The entire district is surrounded by the Boise National Forest, which offers a variety of outdoor activities and learning opportunities.
The campus is located at the top of Main and Montgomery Streets among the historic boardwalks and buildings dating back to the 1800’s. The elementary building was constructed in the 1960’s. The middle/high school was later built in the fall of 1995.
The primary employers in the district are the National Forest Service, Boise County and the school district. The majority of the residents commute to Boise for work.
The district strives to keep class sizes below 20 students in an effort to provide higher student teacher interaction. Most of our students attend our schools for their entire Preschool through twelfth grade education. This helps build strong relationships between teachers and students and among students themselves.
